Generative engine optimization

Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the work of improving how a brand appears in generative answers; Named North treats it as part of answer engine optimization, not as a separate service.

Named North

GEO became a trade term for getting a brand into answers written by generative models. The tactics people file under it — clear claims, sourced facts, fluent definitions — are the same tactics that make a passage quotable.

Running AEO and GEO as two retainers creates two vocabularies for one problem and, often, two conflicting descriptions of the company. Named North keeps one service name: answer engine optimization. GEO remains in the glossary because buyers and models both use the acronym.

If a page needs a single definition to quote, use the answer engine optimization definition, and treat GEO as its alias.
