Citation share
Citation share is the portion of relevant answers in which a company is named, compared with competitors, over a fixed set of test questions.
Example: twenty buyer questions, asked of one answer engine, six of the answers name the company. Citation share for that engine, on that day, is 30 percent. The same list asked next month is a new measurement, not a correction of the old one.
Share is useless if the question list is vanity. “Best company in the world” is not a buyer question. “Who finances life insurance premiums for a closely held business?” might be. The list should be the questions that precede a call.
Named North uses citation share inside a citation watch. It is not a score the firm promises to hit.
